It seems that not everyone is Buzzing. If Google is to better than Twitter or Facebook it seems that a little more attention to detail might be needed. The word on the street is that it offers nothing that either of these services don’t already offer. And, as we know, social proof (aka, OTHER people like it) is needed before the crown can be taken from the Old Boys.
Is Google Buzz just the same as other social media collections yet less established? Perhaps but, as sources far greater than can be found in this blog conclude, it is far to early to tell what is likely to happen. Google does most things well but history is not infallible. Getting people interested and interactive requires a critical mass and when the social landscape is not only crowded but of a high enough quality then new members require a VIP Pass to progress.
Google has stolen an advantage if you have a Gmail account. Auto following is already up and running. But social media in any form requires one important ingredient: someone has to DO something and perhaps we are already doing as much as we want.
If people use email (especially Gmail) then Google Buzz offers this medium as an obvious take-off point.
We await developments. I’ll check my email.
