Things are never quiet over at Google! Their latest venture is that of social media. It looks as though their focus will be to allow sharing of content and status updates. This already happens of course via Gmail chat. But the new venture will see the ability to see and share a timeline of the whereabouts and activities of your friends (not just “I’m logged in and ready”)

It looks like Google will be using some of their current assets to help the process – YouTube and Picasa for example and no doubt Google Maps and Google earth will be next on the horizon. My previous post talked about Tweetdeck. Google may be making this redundant with their latest proposals.
