I Am Blogging In The Tub

by Mark Clayson

I met a man in the bar not so long ago. We had a long conversation over a few beers and it transpired that he was into accountancy. Now, this is something that bores me stupid, mainly because I am useless with figures. He was, rightly, proud of his achievements and status and I estimated that our incomes were sort of comparable. The difference was, apart from the content of our work, that he would often be in the office for up to 50 or more hours per week, especially when there were deadlines involving important companies.

I started to compare, mentally, my own experiences. For one, I never work 50 hours per week – I used to but not for the last 7 years or so. I rarely work more than 30 but traveling time, of course, extends that.

My friend often takes work home to complete. I often WORK only from home and that, for me, was the difference bigger than the number of hours.

I have a secret that I didn’t tell you ( well, it’s in the title). I am writing this whilst soaking in the bathtub. Sure, I have to be careful I don’t drop my phone into the water and I don’t want to get too wrinkly and spoil my complexion, but it doesn’t get any simpler than this really.

I said I diliked figures but I have a few of my own to share. Today I have written 18 articles and 6 blog posts plus answered a few phone calls all from the comfort of my own home office.

Hope my friend gets home soon.
