A few statistics to whet your appetite for social media in your business:
350 million people use Facebook throughout the world and more than half of these log in every day. 55 million status updates are posted each day and more than 2.5 billion images uploaded each month.
There’s more ….
Twitter announced 30 million users in July 2009. Of these, nearly 3/4 joined in early 2009. 30% of users provide the bulk of the activity.
Do you know how many blog posts are posted each day? What about news media, press releases, photo and video sharing uploads? Think billions.
EACH DAY!!!!
OK. You either get this or you don’t. Many people don’t. That’s OK – those people are likely to spend their time on social media platforms talking to friends and arranging meetups. But, as I pointed out here if you are one of these people then 4 out of 5 of you will be using social media to make buying decisions.
I will repeat: Buying Decisions
Now, if you are a company or a business that sells something for a profit then you might like to be in front of these buyers. You might like to be a part of their decision. If you don’t, then your competitors will.
Many companies accept this and are investing hard cash into being part of the social media conversation.
